Lots of solar ground mount racks already installed.
|From First Solar AV Solar Ranch One|
After observing the Sierra SunTower offline yet again, no surprise there, I was heading home along Route 138 last Sunday when I stumbled upon a sign for the First Solar, Inc. (NASDAQ:FSLR) Antelope Valley Solar Ranch One (AVSR1) project. Sometimes I think I need a bumper sticker warning “I brake for Solar”.
AVSR1 is a 230 MW (MegaWatt) AC photovoltaic project backed by a $646 million loan guarantee from the US Department of Energy (DOE) under the 1705 Loan Guarantee Program. Once DOE finalized the loan guarantee, First Solar flipped the project to Exelon Corporation (NYSE:EXC) though First Solar “will build, operate, and maintain the project.”
From my quick site survey, I thought I observed a single rectangular fenced region north of Ave D. However, I may not have had unobstructed views of the rear property acreage. Please see my Google map and the official AVSR1 project map for comparison.

All the ground mounts installed and staged at the site were fixed. None of the single axis trackers planned for a portion of the site were evident in the Phase 1 construction as shown in the Picasa slideshow.
(Full disclosure: I =still= own some shares of FSLR stock.)
