In AE Polysilicon Event Groundbreaking – Part 2, I speculated about the absence of Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) Secretary Kathleen McGinty from the AE Polysilicon supplied photos.

AE Polysilicon Event Groundbreaking – Part 2

Pictures from the Groundbreaking Ceremony

Photo Credit: AE Polysilicon Dr. York Tsuo is second from the right.

The official event press release, Sec. McGinty Helps Break Ground on $100 Million Solar Manufacturing Project in Bucks County, is from the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP). I do not see DEP Secretary Kathleen McGinty in either of the groundbreaking photographs. Perhaps she attended earlier, missed the ceremony, or was taking the photos?

AE Polysilicon Event Groundbreaking

[Fairless Hills, Pennsylvania USA]

Event slated for today, February 15, 2008, at 11:00 AM EST

I stopped by the Keystone Industrial Port Complex (KIPC) this morning to check on the construction progress, if any, for the new AE Polysilicon facility. I was surprised to find signs for an AE Polysilicon Event. The groundbreaking ceremony is supposed to start at 11:00 AM per one of the event caters I questioned.

This groundbreaking will occur one month later than expected per AE Polysilicon: Final Plan Approved.

Here is a Picasa slideshow with the event tent and the existing building that will be renovated into office space.

It appears there has been little to no work done thus far at

Solar Light Flashes: February 10, 2008

Select Photovoltaic News Tidbits

This is the first Solar Light Flashes of 2008. Somehow, I didn’t have anything to report on a company name starting with the letter “S”, the most popular first letter for “s”olar companies.

AE Polysilicon: Final Plan Approved

Ground breaking expected in mid-January 2008 at the Keystone Industrial Port Complex (KIPC)Production delay of one quarter based on construction cycle of eight (8) to nine (9) months.

One month after the delay I mentioned in AE Polysilicon: Preliminary Plan Approved, AE Polysilicon Corporation was back on the December 18, 2007, Meeting Agenda of the Falls Township Board of Supervisors:

Item #2: A.E. POLYSILICON - FINAL LAND DEVELOPMENT - TPN 13-51-1 - ONE BEN FAIRLESS DRIVE (EXP. 12/31)

In his presentation to the Board, AE Polysilicon Attorney Mr. Ed Murphy, McBride and Murphy, said:

We’d like to break ground to start this facility sometime within the next 30 days or

AE Polysilicon: Follow the Trichlorosilane

Tracking the Fluidized Bed Reactor (FBR) Feedstocks

Continuing where AE Polysilicon: Preliminary Plan Approved left off, details regarding AE Polysilicon Corporation FBR feedstocks and process have emerged.

A process description for lay persons was presented at the October 16, 2007, meeting of the Falls Township Board of Supervisors. The impure silicon powder (98% pure) or metallurgical silicon (mg-Si) will be converted via a process described in a handout distributed to the Supervisors into a 99.9999% pure pelletized product (granular polysilicon). Will the polysilicon only be six nines pure (6N)? Later in the meeting, there were tacit claims the polysilicon is appropriate for electronic grade semiconductor applications. Is this an apparent contradiction or an indication the

AE Polysilicon: Preliminary Plan Approved

Construction has not begun yet.Phase 1 Polysilicon Production still set to start August 2008?

This post includes supplementary information regarding AE Polysilicon Corporation (http://www.aepolysilicon-nj.com) and complements the article, Silicon Setback, by Jennifer Kho at Greentech Media.

Where is AE Polysilicon located?

First, I wanted to provide closure to my quest In Search of AE Polysilicon. The facts indicate AE Polysilicon’s 32 acres were subdivided from the Keystone Industrial Port Complex (KIPC) Phase 4, Lot 5 even though the AE Polysilicon location is not shown on the KIPC Current Tenant List or Map. This area was circled in a presentation by

In Search of AE Polysilicon

[Fairless Hills, Pennsylvania USA]

My impromptu visit to the Keystone Industrial Port Complex (KIPC)

I’ve noticed the ongoing international interest of Blog readers in my AE Polysilicon posts. Since my last post, AE Polysilicon moves to Pennsylvania, I was at an impasse trying to contact the company through Motech Solar to obtain an update on their progress.

On a trip back east to New Jersey in late October 2007, I visited the KIPC direct from the Philadelphia International Airport.

All I expected was to snap a few photos of an FBR (Fluidized Bed Reactor) polysilicon plant under construction and a cliché sign indicating this was the future home of AE Polysilicon (

AE Polysilicon moves to Pennsylvania

Finds a friend in Pennsylvania Governor Ed Rendell

Fairless Hills, Bucks County, Pennsylvania, USA will be the home of AE Polysilicon as announced in this press release, PA Governor Rendell Announces Arrival of Solar Material Manufacturer in Bucks County. I first saw this reported in the Weekly Newsletter from Solarbuzz here, Fairless Hills, PA, USA: AE Polysilicon to Construct New Manufacturing Facility.

AE Polysilicon is purchasing about 20 acres of land with an existing 39,000 square foot building in the Keystone Opportunity Improvement Zone (KOIZ). AE Polysilicon plans to renovate the structure into a corporate headquarters and begin constructing an open air manufacturing
