Virtual 6th European PV Industry Forum

Video of the SET for 2020 Executive Summary

On Wednesday midway through the 24th EU PVSEC, I attended the 6th European Industry Forum titled Solar Photovoltaic Electricity: A mainstream power source in Europe by 2020. The PV Industry Forum has become a ritual since my first in Dresden. After the introduction, my Canon FS11 camcorder was ready to record the excellent tag team presentation of the SET for 2020 Executive Summary by Dr. Winfried Hoffmann and Anton Milner. Was it rehearsed or have they just presented SET for 2020 many times before? The almost 35 minute presentation is split into four

24th EU PVSEC: Closing Session Videos

Photovoltaic Technical Highlights and Industry Summary on SET for 2020.

When I posted the 24th EU PVSEC: Photovoltaic Technical Highlights, I planned to include a YouTube video of Dr. Heinz Ossenbrink's presentation. However, YouTube enforced their rigid 10 minute length policy even though the file size was well below 2GB (GigaBytes). So in two parts courtesy of iMovie ‘09, the videos below capture Dr. Ossenbrink’s presentation in his own words. Once I had a perch established at stage right for effective recording, I also videoed the next speaker, Dr. Winfried Hoffman in his role as EPIA (European Photovoltaic Industry Association) President, present the Industry Summary of

Green Jobs Platform for Solar

SVTC creates Green Jobs Principles for a safe and sustainable solar industry. Call to action to sign the Green Jobs Platform for Solar. Last week, the Silicon Valley Toxics Coalition (SVTC, http://www.etoxics.org) announced the Green Jobs Platform for Solar to facilitate a dialog and encourage Photovoltaic (PV) industry adoption of their ten (10) Green Jobs Platform for Solar Principles. On the heals of the "Toward a Just and Sustainable Solar Energy Industry" report released in January 2009, the SVTC is proceeding with the Clean and Just Solar Campaign to encourage solar module recycling

Feed-in Tariffs: Solar FiT for Gainesville, Florida!

A Solar Photovoltaic Incentive Policy We Can Believe In. Which US state will enact the first Feed-in Tariff (FiT)? Triangulate between Orlando, Jacksonville, and Tallahassee to find Gainesville, Florida USA. Photovoltaic advocates won’t need fancy geometry to locate Gainesville after “Commission gives its approval to feed-in tariff for solar power” by Megan Rolland for The Gainesville Sun. Per the Gainesville Regional Utilities (GRU) Friday, February 6, 2009, announcement “Leading the Nation: GRU’s Solar Feed-in-Tariff”, the Gainesville City Commission: gave unanimous

Photovoltaic Conference and Exhibition Preview 2009

Significant photovoltaic conferences and events in 2009. In chronological order, here are the conferences I am interested in following or covering in 2009. Given that visibility thing, I’m not making plans beyond PHOTON’s Technology Show. As last year (Part 2 update), my focus remains technical conferences and business to business trade shows, not regional marketing or sales events. However, I am still considering smaller technical conferences in lieu of the larger mega events because of repetitive content. There is little location alignment among the eleven events although the San Francisco Bay area and Munich have two events each.

Feed-in Tariffs: Solar FiT for the USA

End the ITC (Investment Tax Credit) Myopia and expand the United States Solar Policy agenda.

With the Washington International Renewable Energy Conference (WIREC 2008, Agenda) coming up this week, it seemed appropriate to jump into the US solar policy and incentive debate.

Repeated lobbying efforts by the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA), the US national trade association for the solar industry, have failed to pass an extension to the solar Investment Tax Credit in last year’s Energy Independence and Security Act and the recent Economic Stimulus Act of 2008. Future SEIA efforts continue to focus on

Blunden’s Blunder at EPIA’s 4th European PV Industry Forum

Has SunPower lost touch with California Residential Solar Installers?

Last year, it took almost a week for me to gather my thoughts and write an article worthy of publishing on RenewableEnergyAccess.com about the 3rd PV Industry Forum. It doesn’t take more than a few moments to realize when incorrect marketing spin is promoted in a public forum.

That was the case early today, September 5, 2007, at the 4th European PV Industry Forum held during the 22nd EU PVSEC in Milan, Italy. Julie Blunden, Vice President, Public Policy and Corporate Communications, SunPower Corporation (NASDAQ:SPWR), professed that the California solar market has developed well over the past two
