Happy Holidays from GUNTHER Portfolio

Since GUNTHER Portfolio launches guntherportfolio.com, I've contributed a lackluster though high quality thirteen (13) posts. This should improve as the new year approaches. I didn't have the time or positive material for a Christmas Eve post, so I decided to wish email and RSS subscribers a Happy Holiday. Please see Best Wishes for the Holidays and a fine 2009! for my online greeting card. I do wonder if photovoltaic industry analysts are too negative about 2009. If polysilicon is supposed to be in oversupply and solar module prices are projected to decline by 20-30%, shouldn't this spur additional demand because of price elasticity? In Germany, is there a better guaranteed

GUNTHER Portfolio launches guntherportfolio.com

My new, self-hosted http://guntherportfolio.com domain goes Beta! The tagline is revised to Photovoltaics, Solar Energy, and Energy Policy. After about two and a half years, the fine sandbox at Blogger was getting too small for GUNTHER Portfolio. The domain change is transparent to RSS and Email subscribers as demonstrated by the new post, Concentrix Solar installs 100kW of FLATCON Power Plants at Casaquemada. If you have the Blog bookmarked, please update this to http://guntherportfolio.com. What does Beta mean? All the original content from Blogger blogspot has been imported into WordPress at

Including Outstanding Student Papers and Presentation Winners and Honorable mentions. PVSC 33 has a record 1642 registrants.

Kicking off the closing session of the 33rd IEEE Photovoltaic Specialists Conference (PVSC 33) just after Noon on Friday, May 16, 2008, Conference Chair, Dr. Tim Coutts, began with a quip, thanked all the folks who helped make the conference possible, and deferred to the Student Paper Awards.

Here are the Outstanding Student Papers/Presentations recognized by PVSC 33. I’ve segmented these by Area Winners and Area Honorable mentions. The unique number (#) was assigned by PVSC 33 to identify each paper.

GUNTHER Portfolio Hiatus

Where are the photovoltaic posts?

Sticking with the personal nature of the Blog format, I wanted to inform readers, subscribers, and friends that I was hospitalized after an auto accident in early March. As a result, I expect regular Blog posts to resume later in April 2008.

Alas, my healing and physical rehabilitation have not progressed enough for me to cover PHOTON’s Photovoltaic Technology Show 2008 Europe and the 6th Solar Silicon Conference in Munich (München), Germany. And I was really looking forward to this event and meeting many new photovoltaic and silicon folks.

Photovoltaics: 2007 Post Review and 2008 Trends to Watch – Part 1

My Top 5 Headlines and Posts, Top 5 Most Popular Posts, and 5 Trends to Watch in 2008

As usual, I am a day or two late on the ubiquitous 2007 Blog year in review and 2008 trends post.

2007 started off strong with the second installment of the Solarvalue Ruše series:

Solar Grade Silicon roads lead to Ruše - Part 2 (Part 1, Part 3)

And the Blog ramped in popularity throughout 2007. Per FeedBurner, my RSS and email subscribers grew from an intrepid fifty (50) base to a year end niche 400. That’s a better growth rate than a certain Solar First stock. Yes, Solar and First were transposed on purpose. I don’t like having Blog Posts

First Anniversary of GUNTHER Portfolio

Acknowledging those who helped me achieve this milestone

As mentioned in GreenVolts CEO Bob Cart addresses California Clean Tech Open 2007 Kick-off Event, GUNTHER Portfolio turned one year old on May 16, 2007. Since this is a bit of an indulgence, I don’t want to rehash the recent Post 100 on GUNTHER Portfolio when I thanked readers and subscribers. I just want to offer directed thanks to those who helped this Blog get established in the early days.

First, I have to thank Solarvalue for working with an unknown Blogger when they were operating in stealth mode trying to seal the TDR deal.

Post 100 on GUNTHER Portfolio

Thanks to the readers, subscribers, and friends of GUNTHER Portfolio!

With this post, GUNTHER Portfolio has hit the 100 post mark. Since my first post on Tuesday, May 16, 2006, I have averaged about 2.3 posts per week for the past ten (10) months. And that includes periods of one to two weeks without new content. I had ambitious goals for the Blog at the start, but my aspirations have been exceeded. I hope you concur.

The top three (3) most read posts remain as citied in Popular Solar Posts and Searches on GUNTHER Portfolio. In particular, SolFocus vs. Concentrix Solar: Battle of the Solar Concentrator PhotoVoltaic (CPV) start-ups is in need
