I was pushed the press release, “GreenVolts Names Solar and High Tech Industry Veteran as Vice President of Engineering”, on Wednesday. My first thought was what’s going on at GV1?
Since I happened, alright arranged, to be near Byron, I could not resist the temptation to investigate. As suggested in “GreenVolts Jolts Concentrating PhotoVoltaic (CPV) Business Plans”, the CarouSol trackers installed at GV1 are just now being scrapped.
Demolition Man was the headline that came to mind when I saw the CarouSol field being ripped
Bob Cart is out as Chairman and CEO.
Radical redesign may be underway departing from signature Power Unit and CarouSol.

Topaz Solar Farm contract with PG&E approved by the CPUC.
With “CPUC TAKES ANOTHER STEP TOWARD STATE'S RENEWABLE ENERGY GOAL WITH APPROVAL OF PG&E RENEWABLE CONTRACT”, the CALIFORNIA PUBLIC UTILITIES COMMISSION last week approved the Pacific Gas & Electric Company’s (PG&E) Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Topaz Solar Farms LLC, a subsidiary of OptiSolar Inc. Interconnected and waiting for approval to flip the switch.But on how much photovoltaic capacity?
Two weekends ago, I made an impromptu visit to the GreenVolts, Inc., GV1 site located in Byron, California USA, as shown in the above Google Map. Following over one month later in the foot steps of Matt Nauman, author of “GreenVolts: something new under the sun near Tracy”, I expected to see significant progress on the first 1 MW (MegaWatt) phase of the 2 MW HCPV (High Concentration PhotoVoltaics) project. Instead I was disappointed.

Last week, I noticed Stay Tuned! by Art Lebermann in the KGO Solar Blog chronicling the assembly and installation of the SolFocus, Inc., CPV (Concentrating PhotoVoltaic) solar arrays. Per SolFocus today, the inspections by the city of Fremont should be completed this week and then the solar arrays can go live.
Just after I posted the previous KGO Radio Solar Project Update: SolFocus install delayed on May 2, 2008, I added a comment with SolFocus clarifications to the post:

Back on February 12, 2008, KGO RADIO LAUNCHES SOLAR POWER ACTION PLAN announced a joint project between KGO Radio and PG&E Corporation (NYSE:PCG) to power KGO Radio’s transmitter with two (2) solar power systems. KGO Radio’s transmitter is located here on the eastern side of the Dumbarton Bridge in the San Francisco Bay area.
Installed by Premier Power, the first system consists of GE photovoltaic arrays ground mounted by and roof mounted on the transmitter buildings. The second system will consist of three (3) SolFocus, Inc., CPV (Concentrating PhotoVoltaic)

CCTO 2007 Alumni Award won by GreenVolts
GreenVolts, Inc. founder and CEO Bob Cart delivered a crisp company Utility Scale Solar presentation on Wednesday, October 24, 2007, at the Dow Jones VentureWire Alternative Energy Innovations 2007 conference in Redwood City, California.
In a succinct summary of the GreenVolts business model, Mr. Cart said:

CSI should examine the Evidence of problems beyond Time of Use Rates
