GreenVolts GV1: Demolition Man

[Byron, California USA] From GreenVolts GV1: Demolition Man Concentrating Photovoltaic (CPV) systems firm demolishes CarouSol trackers. CarouSol is dead. Long live GreenVolts? I was pushed the press release, “GreenVolts Names Solar and High Tech Industry Veteran as Vice President of Engineering”, on Wednesday. My first thought was what’s going on at GV1? Since I happened, alright arranged, to be near Byron, I could not resist the temptation to investigate. As suggested in “GreenVolts Jolts Concentrating PhotoVoltaic (CPV) Business Plans”, the CarouSol trackers installed at GV1 are just now being scrapped. Demolition Man was the headline that came to mind when I saw the CarouSol field being ripped

GreenVolts Jolts Concentrating PhotoVoltaic (CPV) Business Plans

Bob Cart is out as Chairman and CEO. Radical redesign may be underway departing from signature Power Unit and CarouSol. GP Note: First, let me caution that my information for this post has been gleaned from confidential and anonymous sources. I’ve been investigating these claims for the past two weeks, and I am convinced I have the basic facts straight. Two weeks ago Friday, Bob Cart was forced out as GreenVolts, Inc. Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Chief Financial Officer Gary Beasley is now acting CEO as an

In Search of GreenVolts GV1 – Part 2

A new glimpse of the HCPV (High Concentration PhotoVoltaics) project. [Byron, California USA] Earlier this month, I had a chance to revisit the GreenVolts, Inc. GV1 site I first posted about In Search of GreenVolts GV1. This wasn’t part of a grand design; I just happened to be in the area and couldn’t resist. Below is a YouTube video of the GV1 site. I didn’t notice during the visit, and it took prompting by GreenVolts until I realized the “staged materials” towards the southeast corner of Phase 1 were CarouSol units. I zoomed in on these towards the middle of the video without knowing. The SpyCamSystems

In Search of GreenVolts GV1

[Byron, California USA]

Interconnected and waiting for approval to flip the switch. But on how much photovoltaic capacity?

Two weekends ago, I made an impromptu visit to the GreenVolts, Inc., GV1 site located in Byron, California USA, as shown in the above Google Map. Following over one month later in the foot steps of Matt Nauman, author of “GreenVolts: something new under the sun near Tracy”, I expected to see significant progress on the first 1 MW (MegaWatt) phase of the 2 MW HCPV (High Concentration PhotoVoltaics) project. Instead I was disappointed.

After passing the site on Kelso Road, I thought this must be it, but I wasn’t positive. I was only able to reconfirm the location across from the Western… Read More >>

KGO Radio Solar Project Update: SolFocus Installed!

Inspections expected later this week.

Last week, I noticed Stay Tuned! by Art Lebermann in the KGO Solar Blog chronicling the assembly and installation of the SolFocus, Inc., CPV (Concentrating PhotoVoltaic) solar arrays. Per SolFocus today, the inspections by the city of Fremont should be completed this week and then the solar arrays can go live.

Just after I posted the previous KGO Radio Solar Project Update: SolFocus install delayed on May 2, 2008, I added a comment with SolFocus clarifications to the post:

Nancy Hartsoch, SolFocus Vice President, Corporate Marketing, responded to my questions about the KGO Solar project earlier this week.

California Solar Initiative: No solar home installations “completed” yet in 2007

CSI should examine the Evidence of problems beyond Time of Use Rates

In The Monterey County Herald Guest commentary, Dale Julin reports STATE SOLAR PROJECT SHADY: Stalled initiative squeezing smaller companies.

As recent as May 21, 2007, the CSI & SGIP Statewide Average Systems Costs (May 2007) (downloadable Excel file) proves no CSI Residential or Commercial system installations have been completed in 2007. Don’t be deceived by the Statistics sheet; this includes prior year data despite the title.

Beyond the publicized Time of Use issue I mentioned at the end of California Clean Tech Open 2007 Kick-off Event
