SoloPower SoloPanel at Solar Power International 09
[Anaheim, California USA]
SoloPanel SFX1 – Series flexible photovoltaic module I wasn’t the first with SoloPower module photos (PHOTOS: What’s Hot At Solar Power International 2009 by Katie Fehrenbacher at Earth2Tech), but my approach tends to be thorough. Following a Solyndra strategy (who had their first exhibition stand), SoloPower had one of their flexible module samples seeded in the 3M stand at Solar Power International 09 (SPI 09) along with a datasheet and the occasional SoloPower representative. “SoloPower Displays CIGS PV Module Prototype in 3M Booth #377 at Solar Power International Conference” set the stage for media, competitors, and customers toMonday, June 22, 2009 2:54 am | Edgar A. Summer Solstice: Think Global, Photovoltaics Local
Applied Materials Dispelling and Creating Solar Myths in the United States.
As is often the case, I first saw this Applied Materials, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMAT) press release:
“In Light” of Summer Solstice, Americans Call for More Solar Energy
Applied Materials Dispels Solar Technology Myths and Sets Path for More Renewable Energy Use
mentioned in the Chip Shots blog by Tom Cheyney at PV-tech.org as “Exuberance and ignorance: Survey finds mixed bag of solar-power knowledge among Americans (revised)”.
The Summer Solstice Survey,

SEIA trashes Gainesville Solar Feed-in Tariff
[Munich, Germany]
A funny thing happened at the PV Industry Forum 2009.
Solar Policy Not Invented by the SEIA?
Legal challenges for state Feed-in Tariff policies.
At the PV Industry Forum held last week before Intersolar 2009, Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA) President & CEO Rhone Resch presented “New and emerging developments in the US solar market” in Session 1: PV Markets.
From PV Industry Forum 2009
After his presentation, an attendee asked:
Would you tell me about the utility market in the United

Photovoltaic Conference and Exhibition Preview 2009
Significant photovoltaic conferences and events in 2009. In chronological order, here are the conferences I am interested in following or covering in 2009. Given that visibility thing, I’m not making plans beyond PHOTON’s Technology Show. As last year (Part 2 update), my focus remains technical conferences and business to business trade shows, not regional marketing or sales events. However, I am still considering smaller technical conferences in lieu of the larger mega events because of repetitive content. There is little location alignment among the eleven events although the San Francisco Bay area and Munich have two events each.Monday, January 26, 2009 4:04 am | Edgar A. Gunther | 7 Comments »
Solar Grant: What is a Refundable Renewable Energy Tax Credit?
ITC (Investment Tax Credit) Myopia knows no bounds. House Committee on Ways and Means passes a renewable Grant Program in lieu of the ITC. With apologies to Jeopardy!, the above headline is phrased in the quiz show’s answer and question format, and the category must be Solar and Renewable Energy Incentive Policies. In “SOLAR AND WIND READY TO LEAD NEW CLEAN ENERGY ECONOMY”, the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA) and the American Wind Energy Association (AWEA) reiterated their call to make renewable tax incentives refundable. I first blogged about this in ITC Myopia: New Solar Investment Tax Credit Deficiencies Exposed! A Refundable Tax CreditMonday, November 17, 2008 3:51 am | Edgar A. Gunther | 1 Comment »
