Schmid Silicon Technology polysilicon production activities discontinued.
Solar Grade Silicon development cooperation with Solarvalue terminated.
Since I started asking Sunways AG (FRA:SWW) questions about Schmid Silicon Technology: Schwarze Pumpe production delayed until 2010, “Sunways AG: Projects with Schmid and Solarvalue discontinued” was the double shot press release issued in response Wednesday, March 25, 2009.
Sunways has switched to a new polysilicon supply strategy based on a blend of long term supply contracts and spot market purchases. Sunways AG shares jumped 34.84% to €2.09 as investors welcomed the news.

SST at PHOTON's 7th Solar Silicon Conference
As I tweeted earlier this month, Schmid Silicon Technology GmbH (SST) CEO Alexander Berg (please see “Alexander Berg wechselt zu Schmid Silicon Technology (SST)”, Google English) explained the production delay until the beginning of 2010 in his presentation, “Status of Schmid Silicon Technology and the cost potentials”, at PHOTON’s 7th Solar
Silicon strategy covers the gamut of quartz and metallurgical silicon to polysilicon. There has been a dearth of news regarding Schmid Silicon Technology (SST) since the Sunways AG enters polysilicon production business announcement and my Schmid Silicon Technology: From East Germany with Polysilicon post.
At PHOTON’s 6th Solar Silicon Conference on April 1, 2008, part of the Photovoltaic Technology Show 2008 Europe, Gebr. Schmid GmbH + Co. (Deutsch) representatives, Frank Tinnefeld and Jochem Hahn, presented “From sand to module – a fully vertical integrated approach for the PV Industry.”
Schmid has observed the Euro price of silicon metal has increased almost fifty percent since 2005. As a

Sample me this? Production risks are back end loaded.Sunways CEO Roland Burkhardt’s take on Solarvalue.
First, let’s cover what went well at the Solarvalue AG (XETRA:SV7) Analyst Conference. As you can see in the above photo, the conference had good analyst attendance including man about solar Jesse Pichel, Vice President and Sr. Research Analyst, PiperJaffray. Maximillian Fischer, Solarvalue Investor Relations, provided a short overview and was followed by Solarvalue CTO (Chief Technology Officer) Dr. Julio Bragagnolo. Alas, from here things did not always go up and to the right.

Aim to produce marketable solar cells from solar grade silicon
With many years of accumulated expertise in monocrystalline and multicrystalline silicon solar cell development and processing, Sunways AG (FRA:SWW) is a stronger research and development partner for Solarvalue AG (XETRA:SV7) than Moser Baer Photo Voltaic Limited (MBPV). MBPV is focused on bringing up turnkey silicon solar cell production lines at the current time.
Here are the dueling company press releases: Sunways and Solarvalue enter into cooperation agreement for the production and processing of solar silicon (Deutsch) or Cooperation between Solarvalue and Sunways (Deutsch).

Sunways parlays two Siemens Reactors into 10 year, 1GW wafer contract
Continuing to go its very own way, Sunways AG (FRA:SWW) has reversed course and leveraged the two:
Siemens-reactors and associated equipment for a polysilicon production plant including substantial support services
into a multicrystalline silicon solar wafer contract with LDK Solar Co., Ltd. (NYSE:LDK). Wafer deliveries for the total 1GW (Giga-Watt) contract are set to begin in 2008 and cover a period of ten years. See Sunways AG: Strategic agreement for raw material supply with LDK Solar Co., Ltd. signed for the official press release.
With polysilicon still in tight supply, it is no surprise that polysilicon

Interview with CEO Roland Burkhardt at Intersolar 2007
In Sunways goes its own Silicon ways – Part 1, I examined the basic facts regarding Sunways’ entry into polysilicon production. While trichlorosilane (TCS) sourcing and co-location may seem like the biggest challenges facing Sunways AG (FRA:SWW), obtaining expertise to design, construct, and operate their polysilicon deposition production facility is the single most critical factor to success.
Thus far, Sunways has disclosed SolMic GmbH as a lone firm among other suppliers. Who is SolMic and why is it straight forward to conclude SolMic is the primary consulting firm to Sunways on this project?

Interview with CEO Roland Burkhardt at Intersolar 2007
I wasn’t planning to visit Intersolar 2007 on Saturday, June 23, 2007, the last day of the tradeshow. Although I thought there would be throngs of consumers looking for home solar solutions, there was lighter foot traffic than the first two days. And, since the business meetings were almost complete, there was improved access to upper management at the individual companies.
As I stood at the Sunways AG (FRA:SWW) stand main desk waiting to ask questions about Sunways will be supplied with two reactors for the production of high-purity silicon (Deutsch), I noticed
